Woodlands BC club singles champs goes down to the wire

It was neck and neck with them playing 26 ends and only a point or two difference

By Linda Hewer

IT was a quiet week at Woodlands Bowling Club but on Saturday saw Gloria Rice and Rina Harper fight it out for the club singles championship and what a game it was.

It was neck and neck with them playing 26 ends and only a point or two difference but on the last end Gloria Rice won with a score of 22 and Rina a score of 20.

Well done to them both and congratulations to Gloria Rice. The two men’s league teams played at home against Hillary with one team winning their game and the other team losing to Hillary.

On Friday night, the club meat draw was won by Chantel van Dyk, Keith Hughes and George Moore. Gordon Tarbotan was not there to grab the club snowball so it is another carry over. The club swindle winners were: Graham Wayeich, Cobus Janse van Vuuren (twice), Dave and Arlene Leuchars, Andy and Sandra Cox, Paul Buchel, George Moore and Ralph Mostert.

Every Saturday afternoon the bowling club has what is called ‘tabs in’ whereby members of the public who wish to try their hand at playing bowls are most welcome to come and join in a game and have fun. Bowls will be supplied if you don’t have bowls and prospective players must wear flat shoes. Be at the club by 1 for 1.30pm. The club hopes to see you there.
