Mixed pairs win sees Julie, Amanda claim Wentworth BC perch

Second prize winners were Bill Addinal and Dave Carroll with a very close 4 + 13.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club members produced entertaining bowls, with the first prize in the family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 27 May going to Eileen du Plessis and Stan McKenzie.

Sportsman prize was taken by Johnny du Plessis and Geanne Mitchell.

The 60/40 board was won by Geanne Mitchell and Jo-Ann.

In the Chicken Shack mixed pairs played on Wednesday, 27 May, first prize was won by Julie and Amanda and they are on the perch with 4 + 15. Second prize winners were Bill Addinal and Dave Carroll with a very close 4 + 13. John Somerville and Colin Nicolas took the second session prize. The 60/40 board went to Andy Cloete and Brian Smith. Colin Nicolas won himself the raffled pork.

In the Rawsons breakfast trips played on Thursday, 28 May, Norman Moor, Phillip Pieterse and Claude went home with the first prize with a score of 4 + 17 and second prize was taken by Dave Rowe, and couple, Dawn and Kurt Spack with their score of 2 + 6. Deon Els, Val McCathry and Wankie bowled themselves into the second session. The whisky raffle was won by Cherryl Waterman and Chris Klopper increased his luck by winning both prizes on the first 60/40 board, with Anne Bonthrone and Eileen du Plessis taking the second board.

First prize in the BMS men’s pensioners played on Friday, 29 May went to John Somerville and Colin Nicolas with +15, second prize was won by Gerald C Royle, Derek Stevens and Henry Welgemoed with +12. Colin Coetzee, Herbie Roux and Buck Boetiger went home with the sportsman prize. Chris Pozyn is roasting the pork while Maria Cavanagh is cooking the beef. The first 60/40 board went to Robbie Carr and Flo Harper and the second board was taken by Jumbo Nel and Brian Brittain.

Big Jim bowls was played on Sunday, 31 May. First past the post were Allen Ritchie and Ronel Moral with 4 + 27, following in second were Deon Els and Chrissie Smith with 4 + 19. Surprisingly Robert and Moses took the second session prize. The first 60/40 board went to Ron Gillespie and Tomcat Cavanagh, while the second board was taken by Dawn Spack and Shaun Sutherland. The four chickens went home with Ellen Loots, Brian Smith, Deon Els and Louisa Mc Glynn, and Jumbo Nel took the whisky. The twilight raffle was won by Spider Williams.

Members are reminded to see notice board for club competitions and league.

Sincere condolences to family and friends of Fred Andrew who has sadly died. The club’s thoughts and prayers are with them in this sad time.
