Domestic duels abound on Bluff greens
Matches are posted for the coming Saturday with one of them being the final of the men's drawn pairs between Clinton Bisset and Dave Vincent vs Robert Mhlongo and Allan Moor.

WITH no league games scheduled for the month of May, the order for the weekend at Bluff Bowling Club was domestic competitions.
On Saturday, 9 May the first and second rounds of the men’s senior singles were played with nine old-timers battling it out in good weather.
In winter conditions, the greens were on the quick side, which suited the veterans. Alex Fisher beat Dave Vincent 21-9, Kurt Spack beat Harvey Simpkin 21-12, in a close affair Dave Rowe accounted for present title holder Robbie Jonston 21-20 and Dudley Dorrofied beat Norman Robinson 21-14. Dave Lavis had a first round bye then lost to Alex Fisher 21-17 who will play Kurt in the one semi-final. In the second semi-final, ending almost in the dark, Dudley put paid to Dave Rowe's aspirations 21-18. The two semi-finals of the women's opens singles were also played where Sarie Bisset overcame Elize Stapelberg 21-11 and in an absolute ding-dong encounter which went to 28 ends, June Foster beat Bridget White 21-20 to set up a final against Sarie. One other match took place in the women's nominated pairs which was another close fought sortie with Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel holding on to beat a fast-finishing Judy and Koekie Koekemoer 24-23. On Sunday, the first round of the mixed drawn pairs got off to a start where Koekie Koekemoer got a walk over due to her partner being indisposed and a no show by half the opposition, Dave Rowe and Dawn Spack beat Spider Williams and Patricia Buys 21-13, Lilah Nel and Harvey Simpkin beat Glynnis Mackrory and Michael Schudell 21-18, Sarrie Bisset and Noel Morel beat Dave Lavis and Kitty Schaefer 30-16, Clinton Bisset and Chrissie Smith beat Dudley Dorrofield and Judy Marais 28-14, Elize Stapelberg and Kurt Spack beat Brian Osman and Phyllis Maritz 19-17 and Eddie Human and Paula Osman beat June Foster and Deon Els 23-17. With it also being Mother's Day, a few moms had to escape after the games to make a few late lunch dates. The monthly Lilah Nel diving bell any pairs are on Sunday, 17 May. Last month teams were disrupted due the Oppenheiner being played on the same day so confirm with your participation, especially Jumbo who is never quite sure who he is playing with. Call Gary Moffatt on 076-680-4577 to enter a team.
As 1 May was a Friday, the monthly Zutek any pairs will be played after the Diving Bell on Thursday, 21 May.
