Challenge yourself to assist LIV Village

All the funds raised for LIV will be put towards LIV School.

ATHLETES looking to make a difference, but who aren’t sure how to, can do so by simply entering the Deloitte Challenge on Friday, 1 May.

The Deloitte Challenge, an exciting new event on the KZN sporting calendar, consists of a marathon, half marathon, fun run and a cycle race.

Not only does the event promote health and wellbeing of those who are privileged enough to participate, but it also recognises the imperative to focus on and uplift the KZN community through the selection of LIV Village (LIV) as the preferred event beneficiary.

The LIV Village is a community modelled on an African village lifestyle which provides cluster foster care for orphaned and vulnerable children in KZN. With over five million orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa, LIV exists to raise the next generation of leaders in South Africa by placing these children into a supervised family environment with a trained foster mother to love them, a school to educate them, and where all their physical needs are met. The aim of LIV is to equip these children with the essential moral values and life skills, so that they will grow up to be a generation that will influence positive change within South Africa, Africa and the world, through their vision to ‘rescue a child, restore a life, raise a leader and release a star’.

Deloitte is delighted to have LIV staff members participating in the marathons and cycle event as well as a few energetic LIV children, who look forward to the challenge of participating in the 5km fun run. The rest of the LIV team will be hard at work, assisting with race day activities which include: Manning the LIV water point located along the route as well as hosting and supervising the LIV kids zone in the race village situated at the finish on the outer fields of Growthpoint Kings Park Stadium.

Athletes can effortlessly support and contribute to LIV in one of two ways: By donating an amount during the entry process, however big or small; by participating in the ‘run/cycle for LIV’ campaign whereby money is collected by the athlete for every kilometre completed (with the amount determined by the athlete); or purchasing LIV bracelets and merchandise at registration and at the finish.

All the funds raised for LIV will be put towards LIV School.

Deloitte sees the challenge as providing a wonderful opportunity to extend its existing partnership with LIV. “As responsible corporate citizens we have long supported the LIV Village and saw the challenge as a means of creating more awareness about this incredible organisation with a broader audience,” said Guy Brazier, office managing partner of Deloitte KZN.
