Woodlands bowlers overpower Toti in men’s league

On Friday night the snowball was won by Thobani who wasn't there to grab the winnings so it’s another roll over.

WITH all the holidays and short weeks, Woodlands Bowling Club hasn’t been able to print the results from all its competitions since the beginning of the month.

Hence, starting with the Remax open pairs played on Wednesday, 1 March, the first session winners were Doug Moore and Rex Meyer.

The second session went to Gloria Rice and Sonia Moore and the overall winners were Ken Thomas and Phil Pieterse. Cora van der Westhuizen won the meat raffle and the money board saw Kurt Spack and Gwen Tait walk away with the R40 each and John Somerville and Gerrie Jackson grabbed the R20 each. The drawn prizes went to skip Keith Wild and Cora van der Westhuizen and lead was Gerrie Jackson and Gwen Tait.

On Sunday the Oppenheimer pairs started where three teams played – Bill and Linda Hewer, Gloria Rice and Norman Moore and Rina Harper and Andy Cloete. Well done to Rina and Andy on winning all three their games. They play again next weekend.

On Friday night the snowball was won by Thobani who wasn’t there to grab the winnings so it’s another roll over. The meat was won by Sandy Leuchars (twice) and Stan McNamara. The swindle winners were Dave and Arlene Leuchars (three times), Cobus Janse van Vuuren, Stu Douglas, Horold Dix, Keith and Merle Hughes (twice) and George and Dawn Moore.

The last two weekends have been fun filled at Woodlands Sports Club.

Last weekend there was the children’s Easter egg hunt. The children all made baskets and ran around filling their baskets full of Easter eggs. Fun was had by all.

This weekend there was a weekend sleep out in the car park at the club. This went off wonderfully with a good number of tents. On Saturday, the potjie competition was won by Deon, the reigning champ. Hansie came in second place and Jenny third.

After the competition there was live music, which got everyone on their feet as the dancing started. All in all the weekend was very good. The children also had a wonderful time with the slip and slide, jumping castle and bubbles.
