ON Saturday afternoon, Woodlands Bowling Club’s women played a pairs competition between Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle and Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer with Rina and Lynn the victors on a score of 20-13.
It was quiet at Woodlands on Saturday as the men were playing their first league game at Durban, with Durban taking three points and Woodlands two points.
On Sunday the club hosted a fun day sponsored by Remax, with 30 entries. The winners were Bill Hewer, Val McCaffrey, Connor Francis and John Jones on +8. In second place was Phil Pietersen, Allan Bower and Liz Nicholls on +7. All players received prizes and fun time was had by all. The non-bowlers with the most touches on the jack were John Jones and Michael Masoni with three touches each and Steve Cant with two touches. Gloria Rice scooped the R40 from the money board and Arthur grabbed the R20.
On Friday night the meat draw was won by Keith Hughes, Alan Swan and Miford Holder. W Lee was not there to grab the snowball so it’s another roll over. As Friday, 3 April is Easter Friday there will be no snowball. The swindle winners were Andre Mostert, Ernie Pieterse (twice), Peter Jenkins (twice), Stan McNamara, Maria Berry, Mike McFarland and Cobus Janse van Rensburg.
The club will start April off with a fun-filled Easter hunt and party for the children on Sunday, 5 April at 10am.
On 10 and 11 April, Woodlands BC will have a camp-out at the club. Feel free to take your caravans and tents and join in. Security will be on hand for safety. There will be plenty of entertainment for the children while the adults can enjoy a potjie competition on Saturday with breakfast available from the kitchen. There will be music in the bar on Saturday with a special on shooters. This promises to be an awesome weekend with plenty entertainment for adults and children.
