Colin, Steve clinch Big Jim bowls honours

Tuesday, 24 February South Coast mens pensioners at 9am.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club’s Tuesday men’s pensioners was played on 17 February with Rob Carr and Buck Boettiger in first place and Colin Howes and Eric Miller in second place.

In the family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 18 February, first prize was a draw between Terry Micholson and Johan Nel with Frank Greyvenstein, Zoe Dougall and Herbie Roux.

They shared the prize.

The 60/40 board was won by Ellen Loots and Cora van der Westhuizen.

In the Bluff Meats men’s pensioners played on Friday, 20 February, first prize went to Colin Coetzee, Greg McGuinness and Henry Welgemoed with + 15. Second prize was taken by Ken Koch, Colin Nicholas and Brian Deats with + 5. Keith Wild, Herbie Roux and Dave Lavis took away the sportsman prize. The first 60/40 board was won by Flo Harper and Robin De Gouveia and the second board went to Dorro Dorrofield and Krystal. Graham Bransby won the pork roast, and Mike Berry won the beef raffle. Jumbo Nel won the whisky raffle on his birthday.

Big Jim bowls was played on Sunday, 22 February. The overall winners were Colin Nicholas and Steve Baker, and second prize went to Brendon Davies and Spider Williams. The second session was won by Gary Moffat and Allan Ritchie. The first 60/40 board went to Brian Smith and Robin De Gouveia and Bokka van der Westhuizen was the lucky winner of both the draws for the second board. Patricia Bais is cooking the beef and Gwen Tait keeps company with the whisky that she won. The next Big Jim will be played on 29 March.

The club thanks the owner of Chicken Shack for sponsoring a new game once a month on the last Wednesday of each month. Wentworth hopes to have many good Chicken Shack trip games in the future.

There will be chicken run bowls on Sunday, 1 March. Go along and catch your chicken for chicken curry.

The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays until Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644.
