Steve, Kim to face off in mixed fours final

The snowball of R1,100 was not won as Dave Faifer was not present.

IN the two semi final matches of the Wanderers Bowling Club mixed drawn fours played on Saturday, Kim Hawkins, Bob Hayward, Anne Smit and Cynthia Addinall beat Eric Kitchenbrand, Chris Klopper, Mike and Jackie Freeman by 22-11 with an end to spare, and Steve Van Rooyen, Lorraine Du Preez, Jo-Anne Jordaan and Brian Deets beat Eric Smit, Joan Bruce, Greg McGuinness and Chantal Hearnshaw 22-10.

Both winning teams are in the finals of the event and will play off at a future date.

Members are to note that the start of the mixed drawn trips will commence on Saturday, 14 February. Those wishing to play must have their tab in by 1pm.

The PNB trips commences on the morning of Sunday, 15 February at 8.30am. Wanderers has seven men’s sides and one women’s side entered. For those wishing to watch and support, two teams are at home (Kim and Robin). Terrence is at Hillary, Richard is at Bluff, Dennis at Chiltern Park, Arnie at Hillcrest, and Steve at Westville while Lorinne’s side is at Park Hill. Three matches of 15 ends are to be played. Winners are to resume at Parkhill the following Saturday (men) and the women go to Northlands. Good bowling to all.

Last Sunday’s ever popular breakfast trips attracted an almost full complement of three greens of players. Terry Brown and Kim Hawkins held the first two numbers drawn in the special board draw and each won a meat hamper. The Smits and Anthony Carr each won R50. As for the results of play, Robbie Carr, Bill Addinall and Wonke Zandile won the sportsman’s prize with a 0–21.

First session went to Ken Thomas, Keith Wild and Alan Bruce with a 2+11 while Hennie Geldenhuys, Ernie Lochner and Dave Lloyd picked up the second session with a 2 + 13. John Yunnie, Clive Du Plooy and Dave Matthews secured second place overall with a 4 + 18 and the overall winners on 4+30 were Hillary visitors Mark Grantham, Trevor Chislett and Rusty Ruwers. Players packed Vic’s bar and the sundeck after the match and enjoyed the unique sounds and songs of guitarist and singer Adam Fannar while the bar staff had a busy few hours. Bar assistant Vincent Twala and others rushed about clearing empties and cleaning ashtrays most efficiently.

Last Friday’s meat hamper winners were: Mutton pack Angela Peters; lamb ribs and patties Sharon Carr; chicken pack Thomas Simpkins; sirloin steak Mike Freeman; pork ribs Patti Redman; chicken Graham Jeffs.
