Put names down for ‘chicken fun day’

The swindle was won by Maria Berry, Peter Jenkins, A.B., Ernie Petersea, Stan McNamara and Carole Lauderdale (twice).

AT WOODLANDS Bowling Club, competitions played on Saturday, Arthur Carlyle beat Bryce Bower 21-8; Andy Cloete beat Norman Moore 21-17 and Daphne Els beat Lynn Carlyle 21-18.

On Sunday, the ‘shirts and skirts’ was played. First session winners were Harold Dix, Keith Nel, John Campbell and William Richardson on 2+3. Second session winners were Errol Pienaar, Mike McFarland, Jumbo Nel and Joe McNamara on 2+21 and overall winners were Arnie Harper, Terry Brown, Rina Harper and Russel on 4+25.

The money grabbers were: Gloria Rice R40 and Errol Pienaar R20. Jumbo Nel won the meat raffle and the drawn prizes went to: Skip – Keith Wild – third Jimmy Neil, second – Greg McGuinis and the lead was Lynn Carlyle.

On Saturday, 31 January, the club is hosting a ‘chicken fun day’. Go along and join in. Names are to be in by 1.30pm for play to start at 2pm.

On Friday night the snowball was won by Carole Lauderdale. The meat draw was won by Dennis Tarboton, Keith Hughes and John Fergusson. The swindle was won by Maria Berry, Peter Jenkins, AB, Ernie Petersea, Stan McNamara and Carole Lauderdale (twice).

More improvements have been done to the club. The paving facing the bowling greens has been lifted and it has been re-done with cement and looks very nice. To hire the hall or tabs room contact Linda Hewer. Go along and join in on a Friday night for a delicious dinner prepared by Colin Dawson.
