Birthday boy claims Woodlands BC snowball spoils

Gloria and her team emerged the victors on a score of 19-16.

WOODLANDS Bowling Club was a hive of activity on Saturday.

There was the drawn pairs with Brian Kimber and Daphne Els playing against Linda Hewer and Denis Holloway, with Linda and Denis the victors on a score of 19-12.

On the other rink there were mixed trips played between Rina Harper, Bill Hewer and Ralph Mostert against Gloria Rice, David Lloyd and John Campbell. Gloria and her team emerged the victors on a score of 19-16. There was also a tabs in game played. Although the weather looked like rain and was a bit chilly, the rain stayed away and it turned into a lovely afternoon to play bowls.

On Wednesday, the club will host the open pairs competition. Thanks to Gerald and Colleen Blenner-Hassett from NuQuip for sponsoring the turkeys as main prizes and the meat raffle. To enter a team, call Linda Hewer on 082-724-6575.

On Thursday the casual fours breakfast will be played. To enter a team call Arthur Carlyle on 076-588-7377.

The club will also be drawing the two lucky winners of the Christmas hampers that have been raffled. Many thanks to all who took tickets.

On Friday night the meat draws were won by Dennis Tarbaton, Buks Swanepoel and Colin Hartzig. Birthday boy Derek Botha won the snowball and was there to collect his loot. Happy birthday Derek from all at Woodlands Sports Club. The swindle winners were Peter and Bev Jenkins, Shirley Tomlinson, Rob an d Glenn de Wildt, Keith and Merle Huges, Cobus Janse van Vuuren, Kevin Botha, Ralph Mostert, Lyndon Smith and George Moore.

Don’t forget the hiring of the hall, tabs room and the children’s play room. Colin Dawson is in the kitchen every Friday night if you want to pop in for a delicious meal.
