Wentworth BC bowls to mark 75th birthday

Whisky raffle was won by Brendan Davies, the beef went to Krystal and the pork raffle was won by Honey Kitchenbrand.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a busy weekend with the club’s 75th birthday tournament underway on both Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 November.

John Connellen and his team were the lucky winners of the first prize of R6,000, second prize of R4,000 went to Brendan Davies and his team.

The five session prizes were taken by Dave le Roux and team, Steve van Rooyen and team, Ben Newton and team, Charles and team and Keith Wild and team. Well played and everyone enjoyed the weekend.

Saturday’s first 60/40 board was won by Honey Kitchenbrand and John Somerville, while the second board went to Andy Cloete and Ina Davies. Whisky raffle was won by Brendan Davies, the beef went to Krystal and the pork raffle was won by Honey Kitchenbrand. Sunday’s first 60/40 board was won by Brendan Davies and Anne Bonthrone and the second board was taken by Dirk Venter and Eric Kitchenbrand. The lucky winner of the weed-eater was Andy Cloete and Anne Bonthrone won the whisky raffle, Terry Micholson took the beef and Dave Carroll won the pork raffle.

In the South Coast Pensioners league played on Tuesday, 18 November, first prize was taken by Norman, Steve and Claude, while second prize went to Dennis, Brian and Jumbo. The 60/40 board went to Robin De Gouveia and Ellen Loots, and Colin won the beef raffle.

In the family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 19 November, first prize went to lovely couple Johnny and Eilleen du Plessis and Robin De Gouveia and Anne Bonthrone took the sportsman prize. The 60/40 board was won by Ina Davies and Frank Greyvenstein and Robin De Gouveia won the cake raffle.

The greens were closed for the Bluff Meats men’s pensioners bowls on Friday, 21 November, due to rain. Ben Venter and Gwen Tait won the 60/40 board.
