Deon, Sarie take Bluff BC singles titles

THE annual Bluff Bowling Club women’s tournament which took place last weekend was a resounding success, with the top honours going to Durban Bowling Club’s side of Louise Larkin, Gloria White, Leone Koedyk and Marna Dreyer.

The Bluff’s Daphne Reinhardt, Sarie Bisset, Glynis Macrory and Jay Retief finished as runners-up. Stella Tweedie’s side from Hillcrest took third spot. The 13th place prize as won by Doreen Salmond’s team of Jane Coetzee, Jeanne Alexander and Michelle Pitchers while Dagmar Van Rensburg, Riet Meyer, Kim Vincent and Lydia McAvavey took home the ‘ducks’.

The session prizes were won by J Howard of Collegians, R Mandich of Queensburgh and J Cairns of Collegians.

The two hamper raffles were won by Jay Retief and Linda Hewer.

Deon Els won the 2014 men’s novice title when he went unbeaten in this round robin event, while this past Saturday, Sarie Bisset defeated Elize Stapelberg to capture this year’s women’s point singles title.

This month’s Tony Hoggins/June Foster 3-2-1 killer took place on Friday and Alex Fisher and Allen Ritchie took the overall prize with an emphatic score of 4+48. The first session was won by Gary Moffat and Ken Koch on a 2+28 with Herbie Hoffman and Alan taking the second session on a 2+22. On Sunday morning the monthly Bell any pairs competition was played and Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset climbed on to the perch for next month’s competition which will be held on Sunday, 7 December when they took the overall prize on a 2+14. The first session was won on a count out by Deon Els and Chrissie Smith on a 2+5 and Allen Ritchie and Ronel Morel took the second session prize on a 2+7. The roast pork was won by Michael Schudel and Kurt Spack continues in his lucky streak as he once again won a prize when he won the 50/50 board.

In other internal club competitions, the men’s nominated pairs saw Dave Rowe and Allen Ritchie beat Alex Fisher and Tony Hoggins, and Robert Mhlongo and Noel Morel edged out Steve Baker and Michael Schudel. In the mixed nominated pairs, Clinton and Sarie Bisset beat Daphne Reinhardt and Harvey Simpkin and in the mixed drawn pairs, June Foster edged out Mouse Ratcliffe and Deidre Koekemoer.

The Lilah Nel pairs takes place on Sunday morning, 16 November and the Brian Osman pairs will take place on Thursday morning, 20 November. Members are asked to check the board for up coming events and postings.
