Chrissie takes Bluff BC novice singles title

The first session was won by Dirk Venter and Allan Moor on a 2+18 while Gerhard Hoffman and Brian King emulated that score to take the second session.

CHRISSIE Smith won the women’s novice singles title when she topped the board at Bluff Bowling Club after this round robin event was concluded last weekend, with Deidre Koekemoer finishing as runner up.

Well done girls.In the mixed trips semi finals, Dave Le Roux, Allen Ritchie and Ronel Morel defeated June Foster, Eddie Human and Kurt Spack while Clinton Bisset, Bridget White and Harvey Simpkins outlasted Gary Moffat, Lilah Nel and Paula Osman. Dave and Clinton’s sides will now meet in the final.

In a men’s drawn pairs match, Paul White and Wayne Tonkin beat Dave Rowe and Michael Schudel.

In this weekend’s matches Dave Rowe, Glynis Macrory, Deon Maritz and Kurt Spack defeated Dave Le Roux, Steve Baker, Dave Lavas and Paula Osman in the quarter final of the mixed fours and will now play in the semi final against Gary Moffat’s side. The other semi final was also played this weekend and Tony Hoggins, Lilah Nel, Elize Stapelberg and Harvey Simpkins are through to the final after beating Janice Rodgers, Jean Fraser, Wayne Tonkin and Deidre Koekemoer.

There were three mixed drawn pairs matches played in which Spider Williams and Kitty Schafer defeated Glynis Macrory and Wayne Tonkin, Mouse Ratcliffe and Deidre Koekemoer beat Norman Robinson and Ronel Morel. Dave Rowe and Jay Retief accounted for Steve Baker and Elize Stapelberg.

The results of this month’s Tony Hoggins/June Foster 3-2-1 killer saw overall winners emerge in Colin Howes and George Harris with a score of 4+28.

The most touchers prize was won by Bob Jubber on 7. Steve Baker and Kurt Spack were the roast beef and board winners respectively and Eric Smit and Herman took home the sportsmen’s prize.

In the Brian Osman any pairs played last Thursday, Gary Moffat and Bob Hayward emerged as the overall winners on a 4+23 and the first session was won by Keith Wild and Eric Miller on a 2+12 while Dudley Dorrofield and June Foster took the second session on a 2+13. The raffle was won by Dawn Spack with Eric Smit winning the board draw. The lead and skip prizes went to Johan Nel and Dirk Venter respectively.

On Sunday, the monthly Lilah Nel any pairs competition was played and Deon Maritz and Eddie Human took home the R400 first prize with an overall score of 4+29. The first session was won by Sarie Bisset and Daphne Reinhardt on a 2+14 while second session was won by John Somerville and Terry Michelson on a 2+21. Anne Swatton and Eddie Human took home the roasts while Ken Thomas captured the board prize.

Congratulations to Sarie, Bridget and Glynis on their Port Natal selections. Well done girls, you have done yourselves and the club proud.

On a sad note Kate Richardson is not well and has been hospitalised. Members are asked to keep her in their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
