Seven wicket victory for Quins 4ths

Pierre Horn provided great support with his six overs on the trot, picking up three wickets for just 18 runs.

UMBILO Harlequins 4th cricket team took on Merebank 2 at Merebank on Saturday, 12 October.

Merebank 2 won the toss and elected to bat first.

Quins took to the field with only nine players who all showed great intensity to make a game of the situation. The hosts were scoring freely at the start but some clever thinking from Ryan Baronet, who suggested field changes, turned the game in Quins’ favour. Opposition runs soon dried up, which created enough pressure for Daryn Moffitt to come in and attack with his leg spin, picking up six wickets for 15 runs in four overs, which included a hat-trick.

After a great show in the field, the hosts only managed a score of 78.

Quins went in to bat, losing three early wickets but the remaining opener Daryn Moffitt who scored 53 not out was able to bat through with the support of Huey Naiker who made 12 not out. Quins won by seven wickets with 10 overs to spare.

Overall it was a great effort by Quins and it is hoped to carry on with the same intensity throughout the season.
