Fitness takes centre stage at Stainbank WI meeting

The minutes were read and the group treasurer gave the financial report

STAINBANK Women’s Institute’s meeting was opened by Maureen Lavis, executive member, who welcomed all members from different institutes in the area.

It is always so good to meet up again with friends.

Maureen advised that there were 109 members in Southern Hills Group and a number of institutes had gained a few members.

Stainbank WI president Arlene Greenfield then took over the meeting with some domestic matters. The minutes were read and the group treasurer gave the financial report.

It was good to hear all members singing Unity in harmony.

The executive member advised she would be attending congress with other delegates in the area and at the moment, there was only one resolution that the fees be increased by an extra R10. She advised that Bernadine Hay had started a purely social group which appeared very popular, with no competitions.

The Evelyn House raffle was mentioned and the prizes this year are really excellent, and include getaways for a weekend. An invitation was read out from Yellowwood Park WI to their birthday party at the end of August, the theme being ‘circus’. Everyone is welcome.

Just before tea, the members of Southern Hills were shown how to keep fit by just slowly moving the body to the Nia dance by Cherisse Shepard. After tea, it was time for a well organised game of bingo by Linda Hewer and Trish Braun, with two winners Monica Wilson and Phyllis Parsonage. The birthday member was Margaret Croshaw and it was Arlene’s anniversary. Thank you to all who donated raffles. There were many winners. Many thanks go to all for the hard work put into the group meeting.
