Clinton makes it two in a row

Members to note this coming Sunday is the Bell any pairs and on Sunday, 10 August there is two rounds of the drawn mixed trips being played with a light lunch between the games.

CLINTON Bisset won the men’s open singles for the second consecutive year when he defeated Dave Le Roux 21-10 in the final played this past Saturday afternoon.

Clinton will now represent the club in the PNB champion of champions to be held on Saturday, 2 August at Lahee Park Bowling Club.

Bridget White plays against June Foster in the women’s final today (Tuesday, 29 July), with the winner going on to represent the club in the women’s section of the champion of champions to be held at Parkhill on the same date.

There were three mixed nominated pairs matches played this past weekend in which Tony Hoggins and Chrissie Smith outgunned Gary Moffat and Lilah Nel 23-13, while Dave Rowe and Vicky Williams edged out Wayne Tonkin and Elize Stapelberg 18-17 on the last end. In another very tight game, Brian and Paula Osman scored on the extra end to win their match against Alex Fisher and Janice Rodgers after they were tied after regulation play.

Members are to note this coming Sunday is the Bell any pairs and on Sunday, 10 August there are two rounds of the drawn mixed trips being played with a light lunch between the games. There will be no official postings on Saturday, 9 August (national Woman’s Day) however games may be played if players are available. On Saturday, 16 August the next round of the mixed nominated pairs will be played together with outstanding games from the first round.

Well done to all who represented the club at the PNB masters. Although none were victorious, they all acquitted themselves well.

It is on a very sad note that the club announces the death of one of its most decorated players, namely Clarke Meyer. He died over the weekend. The club offers its deepest condolences to family and friends at this sad time.
