Frank tops men’s challenge ladder at Wentworth BC

Mens club open singles is to start on Saturday, 14 June, member are asked to see the notice board for the draw.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a quiet week. Family and friends fun bowls was played on Wednesday, 4 June where First prize went to Deon Els and Dave Carroll Snr.

Sportsman’s prize was taken by Dirk Venter and Zoe Dougall.

The men’s Friday casual bowls played on Friday, 6 June saw first prize being taken by Terry Michloson, Robin De Gouveia and Val Mc Caffrey with + 2. Second prize was taken by Graham Bransby, Brian Deats and Fred Andrew with +2. There was no sportman’s prize. Ina Davies won the pork roast raffle. The 60/40 board was won by Graham Bransby and Gerald Castor Royle.

In the men’s challenge ladder, Spider Williams beat Brendan Davies.

The top 10 positions in the challenge ladder on 8 June: First Frank Greyvenstein, second Graham Bransby, third Ben Newton, fourth Peter Dingley, fifth Colin Coetzee, sixth Luvuyo, seventh Dave le Roux, eighth Rodney Smith, ninth Terry Micholson, 10th Bokka van der Westhuizen.

The last round of league was played on Saturday, 7 June and the result saw the A teams lose 4-3 against Hillcrest, while the B teams won 3-2 against Wanderers. Well done B team.

The men’s club open singles is to start on Saturday, 14 June. Members are asked to see the notice board for the draw. All games must be done by 5 July. Members not playing are asked to be available as markers.

Handsome Tomcat Cavanagh celebrated his big 80th birthday on Friday, 6 June. The club wishes him the best of luck for the years ahead.

John Somerville and Ellen Loots were hospitalised, and are wished a speedy recovery at home.

Events for the next week include Wednesday, 11 June’s family and friends fun bowls at 3pm. All are welcome.

On Friday, 13 June it’s the men’s casual bowls at 9am. On Saturday, 14 June the men’s club open singles start. Support the guys.
