Bluff BC women bowlers win promotion

THE Bluff Bowling Club women’s B team won promotion this weekend when they beat Queensburgh 4-1 to finish top of their section and have now moved up a league.

In the last round of the men’s league, the A side defeated Durban 5-2 and the B side lost 5-0 at Wanderers.

On Friday the Tony Hoggins/June Foster 3-2-1 killer was held and the 100 point mark was almost met when Gary Moffat and Dereck Stevens scored 99. In doing so, they won the overall prize with a 4+54. The first session winners were Robbie Carr and Dirk Venter on a 2+22 while Gary Mulligan and Alex Fisher took the second session with a 2+14. Most touchers was won by Colin Nicholas on 8 and he also took home the roast beef. The board winners were Rosa Vincent and Allen Ritchie while Ken Thomas and Johan Nel won the sportsmen’s prize.

On Sunday, the men’s open singles was played and is now down to the semi-final stage, where Paul White will meet Dave Le Roux while the current champion will meet Robert Mhlongo.

The Lilah Nel any pairs will be held on Sunday, 15 June and the Brian Osman any pairs will be held on Thursday, 19 June.

The club offers its condolences to the Gill family and Wentworth Bowling Club on the passing of Richard, a past president and long-time club stalwart.
