WENTWORTH Bowling Club played bowls despite the heatwave.
Results for Saturday, 8 February: Drawn pairs winners were Hilton and Bokka vs Tom Cavanagh and Robin De Gouveia.
Hilton and Bokka won 19/18 and go through to the final against John Sommerville and Johnny Du Plessis, who beat Frank Greyvenstein and Willie Gerricke on Sunday, 9 February by 15/9.
The final will be played on Monday, 17 February at 2pm. On Tuesday, 11 it was pensioners bowls with 14 players. Overall winners were Colon Coetzee and Eric Smith. Winner of the beef raffle was John Sommerville.
Wednesday, 12 February saw Wentworth’s ‘family and friends fun bowls take place where Frank Greyvenstein and David Snr took the honours.
The 60/40 board draws were won by Terry Micholson R40 and Rodney Smith R20. Friday’s pensioners was played in sweltering heat and was won by Hilton Lassak, Brian Hollis and Smiler Wilesmith on plus 10. Coming in second was Jumbo Nel, Buck Boettiger and Dave Millar on plus six. The biscuits were won by Keith Wild, Ron Parsonage and Rick Blann – all the way from Bloemfontein for the weekend.
The meat raffles were won by Rick Blann (pork) with number three and Jumbo Nel (beef) with number 64.
The first 60/40 board draw was won by Rick Blann R40 with number 27 and Dave Millar R20 with number 66. Second board was won by Willie Gerricke R40 with number 37 and Ron Addinall R20 with number three.
A big thank you to all who participated in the weekly competitions. The following are this coming week’s games – on Tuesday, 18 February pensioners bowls at 9am; Wednesday, 19 February is the family and friends fun bowls at 2pm; Friday pensioners bowls at 9am and the Big Jim on Sunday, 23 February.
