YWP WI volunteers get active again

All members were disappointed.

YELLOWWOOD Park Evening Women’s Institute (WI) president Vanessa Wilesmith opened the meeting by welcoming the guests for the evening.

Members’ thoughts were with the family of Carroll Michel, a valued member of YWP WI, who will be greatly missed.

Secretary Marsha Hart and treasurer Wendy Henderson gave their reports. Letters of thanks were read from Tish Larsen and Mary Rust.

Members were reminded that fees for the year were now due but could be paid over two months if necessary.

Jean Ball gave a report-back from the Outspan Residential Home and also from volunteers at Botanic Gardens. YWP WI will be working at Botanic Gardens again on 22 February. Meals on Wheels volunteers will be working on 10 February.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who readily give up their time from such a small institute.

Birthdays of the month were Veni Singh and Maria McDonald, who is joining as a dual member. A big thank you to Wendy Henderson and family for hosting the successful Christmas party. Sharon Quail gave a report on Thornhill House, which it would seem needs extra attention. Thanks to Sharon for making all the trifles with the help of ‘Percy’.

Vanessa reminded members of the group meeting and read out the competitions. Unfortunately Vanessa was let down by the expected speaker for the evening. All members were disappointed.
