Too many holes in Bluff land invaders champion’s argument

It sounds like Ivor Aylward is trying to be a hero and a hindrance.

EDITOR – I think it’s laughable that a Bluff ratepayer – someone who owns property and has a vested interest in the retention of property values in the area – would support illegal land invaders.

It sounds like Ivor Aylward is trying to be a hero and a hindrance. A hero to the land invaders and a hindrance to the efforts of the ward councillor that he lost out to in the local government election.

Both his intentions appear to be driven by a need to be in the spotlight and make himself feel relevant.

There are a million ways in which he could make himself indispensable to the Bluff but instead he chooses to be overly critical and have irrelevant.

There are many holes in his argument about how government should assist these people, but the biggest is possibly the fact that he as one person, is deciding for the collective rate-paying public in saying that government should provide these people with homes. What gall!

Why not extend this thinking to every vagrant, homeless person – heck, even those who earn too little to afford the ever-rising cost of living?

In another life, we would do well to have Ivor and SA’s erstwhile president, Jacob Zuma sit around the same table and discuss the ways in which to provide a “better life for all”.
