Drain clearance could have negated Woodlands storm damage

If it is not broken do not fix it and now everything is broken and what are they going to do about it.

EDITOR – I feel very sorry for those people in the Durban area and particularly around Woodlands who have lost everything they have worked so very hard for.

But I feel that Durban was already a disaster area.

I feel the ANC municipality does not in any way believe in maintenance. If it is not broken, do not fix it and now everything is broken and what are they going to do about it?

Surely all the money that was spent on an Essence Festival for the mayor’s benefit and the armed cars could have been spent on clearing drains and sewers and building homes? One resident in Woodlands who lost her home said she had asked the municipality on numerous occasions to clear the drains and had reference numbers but absolutely nothing was done, so she lost her home and all her belongings. Will the municipality now come to her aid? Why do I doubt it.

If the municipality works at the speed that they usually do, then Durban is going to be in a dreadful mess for a very long time to come.
