Consider the weight of your vote

The only way these problems can truly be resolved is to change the management of our city or second prize is to have a strong opposition.

EDITOR – With regards to the talk of a rates boycott at the BA meeting, as reported in the SUN edition dated 25 March.

I find it extremely disturbing that a person who aspires to represent his community in council would encourage people to break the law.

I would expect Mr Aylward to have a better understanding of the current challenges that we as residents are facing and to rather promote a democratic solution. Any form of lawlessness is unacceptable. Burning municipal property and tyres in the streets or withholding rates is illegal.

The facts are that due to the poor management of our municipality by the current governing party, our city is degrading at a rapid rate and we as residents are not receiving the service delivery that we are entitled to.

The only way these problems can truly be resolved is to change the management of our city or second prize is to have a strong opposition. This can only be done with your vote. This will require every person who is not happy to make their mark for a party that can make a difference. Unfortunately far too many votes are wasted. People either don’t bother to vote because they don’t understand the true power of their vote or they use it on a small party or an independent that has no power to effect change.

An independent is like a blade of grass in the desert – it can only bend whichever way the wind blows.
