The day is intended to celebrate the quite important role grandparents play in the lives of the learners.
Principal Eunet Pattinson said 310 grandparents were in attendance, and she said this emphasises the impact of grandparents on the children.
“So many grandparents are mothers and fathers for our children, and they need to be honoured,” she said.
The day’s programme was filled with various entertainment from learners in all grades through dances, skits and poems. The creative performances left many grandparents in the audience beaming and filled with pride. The grandparents were also treated to refreshments following the performance as well as the games played with the grandparents.
Although this was only the third year the school has hosted a Grandparents’ Day, it has rapidly become one of the most popular events. “Many grandparents are just so grateful that we’re thinking about them, too,” she said.
Pattison also thanked the parents who provided refreshments and gave a special thanks to the teachers for all their work in putting on the event.
