Last free Sunshine Shopping brings hope and joy to those in need [Video]

Many residents and children had the joy of getting a few second hand clothing items from the Sunshine Shopping initiative, at this time of the year.

WARMING the Hearts Through Feeding, a humanitarian Bluff-based organisation, hosted their last free Sunshine Shopping for vulnerable residents in south Durban, on December 9.

Founder of the organisation, Liziwe Mkhulisi, a struggle veteran, said she was filled with joy when she saw the happy and grateful shoppers enjoy choosing their favourite items from piles of clothing at the old Boxing Club in Tara Road.

Through her organisation, sponsors and donors, Mkhulisi, a pensioner from The Bluff, is able to help hundreds of residents in need.

After the shopping experience, residents were provided with a sumptuous meal before they headed off.

Warming the Hearts Through Feeding was founded to alleviate hunger in 2018, and registered as a non-profit company (NPC), in 2021.

Mkhulisi, who is a member of the Active Citizens Movement (ACM) said, “I am overjoyed to be in a position to help hundreds of people and children look and feel good this festive season by donating pre-loved items through this initiative.

“I thank every person who opened their hearts, cleaned out their closets, and donated towards this initiative. Together, we are able to spread joy and love this festive season,” she said. If you would like to make a donation to Warming the Hearts Through Feeding, contact Mkhulisi on 061 314 9772.
