Residents at the Tafta John Dunn House were overjoyed at their Christmas celebration.

THE Robin Hood Foundation South Africa treated the staff and residents at the Tafta John Dunn House in Wentworth, to a fun-filled day of entertainment, gifts, and great company, as part of their ‘Bless a Granny and Grandpa’ campaign.

Charlotte Edgar, the foundation’s coordinator, said the campaign, which runs from October to December, enables them to fulfill over 2 500 Christmas wishes of the elderly living in old age homes.

“This year we will visit more than 17 homes. During the visit, we provide entertainment and delicious baked goods. We also dance and sing and just bring love and joy to the elders. It’s truly one of our favourite projects.

“It is also humbling to see all the gifts coming in from corporates, businesses, schools, families and friends. Each gift purchased, is wrapped with so much of care and love. Our community that supports us are just unbelievable, and we are so grateful for their support year after year.

“Furthermore, the day would not be possible without our volunteers, who give their time, love, kindness, and bring joy during our visits,” she said.

Femada Shamam, Tafta’s CEO said, “We are filled with gratitude to once again be blessed by the generosity of the foundation. Through their campaign, they have been spreading cheer to our homes for many years, making Christmas wishes come true.

“It is during this time that we depend on the kindness, care and compassion of our donors to make the festive season extra special. Older people often feel disconnected from their loved ones who live abroad and find solace in the social gatherings hosted at our homes. We would like to thank the foundation for adding festive cheer to our annual Christmas lunches and gifting our elders,” she said.
