WATCH: Residents urged to attend trucking feedback meeting on The Bluff

New signs erected have made a difference in the number of trucks and heavy-duty vehicles passing through the residential area.

TIRELESS efforts to prevent the illegal use of residential roads on The Bluff have proved fruitful, after warning signs restricting vehicles exceeding nine tons from entering the area were recently erected, starting from Solomon Mahlangu Drive to Formosa Road.

Zoë Solomon, Ward 66 councillor, said she, together with Sharon Numan, Ward 66 committee chairperson for Roads, Transport and Stormwater, had approached the eThekwini Transport Authority Department to assist with the signs, which prohibit empty or full tankers, as well as heavy-duty trucks, which are not doing a delivery, from entering the area.

Solomon added that a public feedback meeting on the trucking issue will be held at 186 Tara Road (old boxing club) on October 19, starting at 18:00.

The issue of trucks using residential roads on The Bluff to access Bayhead is an ongoing problem, and residents are urged to report it to the metro police.
