The fundraising event also serves as an opportunity to support the launch of the book.

THE Merebank Book Project will host a mesmerising evening of music, culture and community spirit at their Eastern Extravaganza.

Scheduled for November 18, the captivating event aims to be more than just a night of entertainment but also an opportunity to support the launch of a remarkable book chronicling a century of Merebank’s rich history since the early 1900s.

The Merebank Book Project will celebrate the diverse heritage, stories and achievements of the Merebank community over the past century.

Member of the project Jeevan Padayachee said, “Our book is a labour of love, painstakingly compiled and meticulously researched, capturing the essence of Merebank’s evolution, the resilience of its people and the vibrant tapestry of their lives. There will be a showcase of live Eastern music by our very own home-grown talent.

“There will be a tuckshop serving delectable culinary delights representing Merebank’s culinary heritage. Together, we can ensure that the stories of Merebank’s past continue to inspire and enlighten future generations. The event will also serve as a fundraiser, which will be crucial to the success of our book launch. The support of attendees will help us bring this invaluable piece of Merebank’s history to life, preserving the memories, struggles and triumphs of generations for years to come.”

Attendees and supporters can donate to the Merebank Book Project, and sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and organisations that want to be part of the historic endeavour.

Attendees can look forward to exclusive insights into the making of the historical book, as well as a chance to meet the project leaders.

The Eastern Extravaganza will be held at the Merebank Regional Hall at 18:00. For more information, or to donate, contact Anusha Jugoo on 083 658 8961 or Srinivasen Naidoo on 067 124 8021, or email anushajugoo@gmail.com.
