Bowler returns home from world championships

Out of 44 countries participating in the championships, the men's side placed 13th and the women's side seventh overall.

PRO bowler Wayne Ritmuller was honoured to represent South Africa at the World Bowls Championships at the Gold Coast in Australia recently.

The Bluff resident said, despite not performing as anticipated, the team of bowlers were proud to compete and will aim for better results next year.

“The weather at the Gold Coast was predominantly sunny and warm, with some days being really hot. Most afternoons, there were windy conditions which made the games a bit more challenging.

“Overall, we didn’t do as well as we thought we would, especially the men’s team. None of the four men’s disciplines were able to make it out of their respective groups. The men finished 13th overall with the women finishing seventh overall out of 44 countries that took part,” Ritmuller said.
