Great week of bowls at Wentworth club

The club will host a Fun Spring Day event on September 2, where new bowlers are invited to try the game of bowls.

IT WAS a busy week at the Wentworth Bowling Club, with the weekly Pig in a Poke drawn competition kicking off on August 15.

Registered bowlers need to register every Tuesday at 08:30 for 09:00. The Tomasina’s mixed casual bowls competition was held on August 18. Scooping first place was the team of Graham Bransby, Don Moodley and Johan Nel on a plus 14, and second place went to Brian Smith, Gees Dennis and Anne Bonthrone.

Graham Bransby picked the winning number to take home the meat prize and the 60/ 40 board draw win went to Don Moodley, while Kurt Spack won the second prize.

Four bowlers travelled to Parkhill to participate in the Port Natal open trials to compete for a place in the Port Natal open team. Three of them have been selected to represent PNB in up and coming competitions. Troy Garland and Luvuyo Ndava were selected for the B side and Bradley Claassens will represent the presidents side.

Upcoming events include the Big Jim nominated pairs which will be held on August 27, and there are still a couple of spaces available.

On September 2, at 10:00, the club will host a Fun Spring Day event where new bowlers are invited to try the game of bowls. Dress code is bright colours, and flat shoes. There will also be lunch available on the day.
