Police recruitment kicks-off in south Durban

Wentworth police will be hosting its recruitment imbizo at the Grace Tabernacle situated on 28 Sunbeam Avenue, on August 23, and Montclair police at the Montclair Recreational Hall situated in Wood Road on August 24, both from 09:00 to 12:00.

MEN and women hoping to make policing their career now have the opportunity to apply for the 2024/ 2025 intake as entry police trainees.

Wentworth police will be hosting its recruitment imbizo at the Grace Tabernacle, situated on 28 Sunbeam Avenue, on August 23, and Montclair police at the Montclair Recreational Hall situated in Wood Road on August 24, both from 09:00 to 12:00.

Captain Louise Le Roux, Brighton Beach police spokesperson, said 124 completed applications were received for enlistment in the Basic Policing Development Learning Program (BPDLP) for 2024/ 2025, during a recruitment imbizo held at the old boxing club in Brighton Beach on The Bluff on August 17.

She said the imbizo’s objective was to provide qualified staffing to support the applicants in correctly completing their application document, while also ensuring that all relevant required documentation were attached.

“The applicants were also mentored on work ethics required when joining the SAPS during their induction. The SAPS Brighton Beach expresses their gratitude towards officers and members from Chatsworth, Wentworth, and Montclair for their administrative support and mentoring of the aspiring new police trainees.

“We also thank Pastor Captain Kistiah for blessing the event and applicants, and Captain Warren Chamaly from the SAPS KZN Provincial Career Centre is also acknowledged for the guidance provided in this recruitment initiative. Together we can achieve more,” she said.

The basic requirements include:
-Be a South African citizen
-Be 18 and under 35-years-old
-Be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate
-Must have no criminal record
-Submit to a medical examination and be physically and mentally fit
-Undergo a psychological assessment that complies with the profile of a police official
-Be prepared to successfully complete police training
-Not have tattoo marks which are visible when wearing any uniform of the South African Police Service
-A valid driving license for a motor vehicle will be to your advantage
-Be prepared to serve anywhere in the Republic of South Africa

You need to take along uncertified copies of:
– Identity document
-Senior certificate or equivalent qualification
-Tertiary qualification
-Academic record
-Drivers license (where applicable)
-Testimonial (school/ church/ traditional leaders)
-Service certificates of previous employers (where applicable)
