Baby girl found dead on pavement in Montclair

Police are appealing to residents for information.

MONTCLAIR police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the dumping of a baby, who was found deceased on the roadside, to contact them.

According to Captain Cheryl Pillay, spokesperson for the Montclair Police Station, the one-month-old baby was found on the pavement on July 18 by a passerby.

The baby was dressed in a pink-and-white winter romper and was left in a grassy area along the roadside.

“Paramedics at the scene declared the baby deceased. Montclair police are investigating an inquest docket,” added Pillay.

Station commander of the Montclair Police Station Colonel Trevor Small said police are appealing to witnesses to assist with the investigation and added that residents can provide anonymous tip-offs to police.
