Help meet abandoned and abused children’s needs

The donations enable residents to become involved in giving back to vulnerable children and helps to sustain the home.

THE Isaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary, a place of safety for abused and abandoned children situated on The Bluff, is appealing for donors to fulfill their wish list. Children from newborn upwards are cared for at the sanctuary and are often admitted into the loving environment the sanctuary creates by the police and social workers under harsh circumstances and stay at the home until short term or long-term care is found.

The sanctuary’s Youandi Gilain, said, “Our job is to love, shelter and feed for the little ones, which is an absolute blessing. We have many ways in which residents can get involved. The wish list enables residents to become involved in giving back to vulnerable children and helps us sustain the home.

The sanctuary’s Hello World initiative lends support to new mothers in need of assistance with baby clothing, accessories, toiletries, nappies are assisted as well as the Amina Helping Hands programme where assistance is provided to other organisations and people in need.

The sanctuary is also involved in Open Arms SA, an online crisis pregnancy centre, where mothers are informed about their options so they can make informed decisions as well have access to emotional support, and the Thembayo Baby Saver box in the wall provides a place for desperate mothers to leave their baby anonymously.

Residents can also donate to the sanctuary’s pets, which all play a role in teaching the children unconditional love, trust and kindness. The sanctuary is home to three dogs, one cat and three birds.
