Centre offers free skills development programme for youth

Some of the programmes include communication, conflict management and an initiative called 'Who Am I', allowed youth to dig deep within themselves to better their lives.

YOUTH from Wentworth, Merebank and The Bluff were engaged in a free five-day life skills programme held at the Wentworth Youth Centre recently. The programme enabled youth to advance in different skills, including chef assistance, electrical assistance and sewing, and boasted about 20 learners per class.

The centre’s Celeste King, said programmes which were made available to youth included communication, conflict management and an initiative called ‘Who Am I’, allowed youth to dig deep within themselves to better their lives.

“Before the classes start, the learners go through life skills so they know what is expected from them and how to treat each other. This helps the learners to get to know each other before the course. We will be hosting more initiatives and programmes to benefit youth and encourage them to take full advantage of these opportunities,” added King.
