Family’s search for missing Wentworth man ends in heartbreak

His family searched for him for three weeks, not knowing that he was already deceased.

A WENTWORTH family is appealing to anyone who may have information or footage of a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of Al David Farrington, to help them with information as they piece together the details of the tragic incident.

Farrington’s sister, Fiona Anderson, said her brother, who is well-known as Goondoo, had left home on January 21 and when he did not return, his family opened a missing persons case at Brighton Beach police station.

“We searched for him for three weeks, not knowing that he was already dead. We also circulated information on social media with hopes that someone might have seen him or have information that could lead to his whereabouts, but we received no information.

“On February 6, we got a call from investigating officer explaining to us that he was found in a morgue. We were told that he was knocked and killed on January 22, a day after his disappearance.
“Police notified us that there was a hit-and-run accident on Tara Road near the Bluff Nature Reserve during the early hours of January 22,” said Anderson.

The 40-year-old father of three worked as a quality controller and was identified by police by the tattoo on his arm and a gold tooth.

“As a family, we need closure and any information from anyone will be helpful. There are many homes and areas with surveillance cameras around that area, and we appeal to anyone in the vicinity of where the accident occurred, to contact us. My brother was wearing a grey t-shirt and three-quarter shorts on the day of his disappearance. Any information or assistance will be greatly appreciated,” added Anderson.
