Wentworth police aim to curb criminal activity in schools with random searches

Six classes with about 40 learners each were searched for dangerous weapons and possible contraband.

WENTWORTH police, together with members of the station’s Victim Friendly Centre, conducted a search at Umbilo Secondary School on February 17. Communications officer of the Wentworth police station, Captain Mbuso Gumede, said six classes with about 40 learners each were searched for dangerous weapons and possible contraband.

“We urge learners to adhere to the law and will be conducting more random searches at various schools to ensure safety of all learners,” said Gumede.
