Police urge Bluff business owners to take precaution as robberies increase

Residents and business owners who may be aware of those involved in criminal activities related to business robberies, are urged to contact the station on 031 451 8059/60.

BRIGHTON Beach police are urging business-owners to be on guard as there has been an influx of robberies in the area recently. 

Captain Louise le Roux, the Brighton Beach police spokesperson, said the robberies mainly occurred during 20:00 and 04:00.

“However, there have been sporadic incidents during the day.  Preparators are predominantly armed with firearms, knives or both. They arrive on foot the majority of the time and jump over walls, gates or fences to gain entry.  Upon overpowering the guard, they will allow for fellow perpetrators to gain entry,” she said. 

Le Roux said the most sought after items taken are vehicle and truck tyres, rims, mobile devices, electronic devices and cash. 

“In some incidents the security will be robbed of their mobile devices, upon being tied up,” she said. 

Le Roux has provided some guidelines that can help business owners to minimise robberies.

Le Roux added that It is imperative that staffing and security officials are informed not to interfere with the crime scene, such as not to disturb physical evidence, as it can hamper police investigation.
