Monkey troubles lead to earlier refuse collection times in Ward 64

Refuse bags need to be on the pavement by 06:00 on Wednesday mornings.

RESIDENTS of Ward 64 are requested to leave their refuse earlier than the usual times on refuse collection days as monkeys roaming the area are ripping bags while rummaging for food.
According to the councillor for the area, Gavin Hegter, DSW area-cleansing officers for the Yellowwood Park area came to a decision to collect refuse earlier than before on Wednesdays to alleviate the amount of rubbish strewn across the street after the monkeys tear open the bags.

“The area-cleansing officer has requested that refuse bags be left on the pavement by 06:00,” added Hegter.

Streets affected are: Sunbird, Coedmore, Thrush, Kingfisher, Robin, Redwing, Jacana, Pigeon, Dove Crescent and Eagle Hill.

DSW workers will begin earlier collection from the first week of February.
