Ward 66 councillor Zoe Solomon said senior officials from Disaster Management and the Fire Department were made aware of the situation and were providing assistance.

“A supervisor for the Fire Department reported back that the spill does not pose a direct threat to motorists and is not too slippery to drive on after he personally went out to test the road surface on Bluff Road.

“We thank Investipol, who voluntarily applied absorbent for a length of the road, which will certainly help a part of the problem. Motorists are urged to be cautious when using the route from Solomon Mahlangu, along Bluff Road, all along Lighthouse Road and up Donegal Road.

“We appreciate Investipol for help on the ground, and we are pleased to have the support and community participation. The roads department has responded and confirmed that they will arrange sand for the spill,” Solomon said.
