Help Treasure Beach dad spread Christmas magic

YOU may have heard of Father Christmas on a sleigh, but have you spotted Wentworth’s very own Santa on his motorbike?
It’s that time of the year again when Treasure Beach dad and biker, Dominic Samuels, gets on his bike dressed as Santa, to spread Christmas magic among children in Wentworth.

Growing up in the Wentworth community, riddled with various social ills, the 50-year-old father of two turned his lockdown woes around by starting a community feeding programme called Chowtime Community Food Drive, where he drives around the community in his minibus and provides warm, nutritious meals free to anyone.

“When we celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, I go out of my way to make it extra special for the children in the community. Being a servant to the community, I deliver meals to different areas, including Wentworth, Merebank and Bluff. The time has come for us to unite again to make Christmas special for those less fortunate than us. Sponsorship for sweets and new or second-hand toys in good condition will be appreciated. Toiletries and non-perishable food items can also be donated. I will pick up donations, to make it easier on the donor,” said Samuels.

He encourages residents who spot the ChowTime Community Food minibus, which can be seen around the Wentworth and Bluff areas on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to grab a meal or two for themselves and their families as the meals are both tasty and free.

“Some of the residents are still unsure as to how our service works. You can come up to the truck with your container and we will fill it up with whatever we are serving for the day. We also ensure that there is something to drink to accompany the meal. Sometimes, when we have generous sponsors, we hand out packs of viennas, etc, for the children so that they can have lunch for school the following day,” he added.
