eThekwini reopens more beaches, pools

THE eThekwini Municipality has announced that they have re-opened more beaches and pools following improvements in the water quality.

Beaches that are now open include Ansteys, Country Club and Winklespruit.

However, Brighton, Addington, Reunion, South, Westbrook, uMhlanga and eThekwini remain closed.

In addition, 21 swimming pools are open in the city to enable residents and visitors to enjoy the warm weather.

Some of these include Ansteys, Stanmore, Umlazi D,  Bayview, Arena Park and Alex Bulley in Montclair.

According to the municipality, the decision to open beaches was taken after experts conducted water tests which confirmed that beach water quality had improved to an acceptable standard.
“The City is constantly monitoring water quality at all beaches to ensure the safety of residents and visitors. The public will be informed in due course about the re-opening of additional beaches and of other pools, which are currently undergoing maintenance.”
