Cable theft leaves Montclair residents without electricity for more than 24 hours

The job has been assigned to the depot for repairs, but there is a huge backlog.

THE theft of cables from the Glen and Pemberton Road Substation has left residents in some parts of Montclair without electricity since Tuesday morning.
Gavin Hegter, the Ward 64 councillor, said the job has been assigned to the depot for repairs.
“Unfortunately, due to the restrictions on overtime, minimal work is done after hours. This has resulted in huge backlogs. I have escalated this to the head of department to action.”
