WATCH: South Durban residents educated about cancer

Residents were able to interact and share their stories, and guest speakers educated attendees on cancer awareness.

WITH the focus on high levels of pollution in the South Durban area and the negative health impacts it has on residents, a meeting and health screening clinic was hosted at the Austerville Community Hall, on October 13.

South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) founder and director, Desmond D’sa, said educational programmes and free health screenings were crucial for all communities in South Durban that have for years been plagued with the pollution from the many industries in the area.

Members of the Wentworth Cancer Support Group and Merebank Cancer Support Group joined the event.
