Robbery syndicate nabbed

The suspects drive around in a white Golf 1, randomly staking out people who walk along the road.

POLICE who arrested a gang of men who they monitored for allegedly robbing unsuspecting pedestrians at knife-point are urging anyone who may have fell victim to come forward to either open or follow-up on cases.

According to police sources, the three men, believed to be from Wentworth, were wanted by police after a spate of robberies occurred in the Brighton Beach area with the same modus operandi and were arrested after they crashed their vehicle on September 25.

“The suspects drive around in a white Golf 1, randomly staking out people who walk along the road. One or two of them usually jump out with knives and either take cellphones or handbags forcefully from the victim. They thereafter change the number plates. The number plates from the vehicle, the ND registered white Golf 1, is removed and GP plates are used. They also remove the roof racks from the vehicle. After the crime, the syndicate replaces the plates and roof rack once they are back in Wentworth,” said the source.

Anyone who may have been a victim of the syndicate can call 079 400 1073.
