Pedestrian killed in freak truck accident

The truck allegedly lost control, knocked over a pedestrian, and thereafter crashed into a building.

A pedestrian, believed to be in his thirties, was killed by a runaway truck on Brighton Road on the Bluff at around 11:00 on Tuesday, September 6.

Rowan Scandroglio, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, said paramedics who arrived at the scene found that a stationary truck, which was being loaded, had rolled down the road with no driver inside.

“The truck hit into a light pole and ran over a pedestrian before it rolled down an embankment and crashed into a building. The male pedestrian sustained major injuries, and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased at the scene.”
