Applications to host events during festive season are now open

The application process will enable the City to monitor and control the functioning of events during the festive season for the public's safety.

MEMBERS of the public, companies and event organisers will have until November 1 to apply for permission to host events in eThekwini during the festive season.

eThekwini Municipality invites event organisers, companies and individuals who want to hold events/activities in the city during the festive season to submit their applications. The festive season period will start from December 1 and continue until January 31.

Residents on The Bluff, Wentworth, Montclair, Clairwood and surrounding areas are urged to use the window period to apply in advance. In a statement, eThekwini Municipality said their main objective is to ensure that safety and security measures are implemented during the festive season.

According to eThekwini, the application process will enable the city to monitor and control the functioning of events taking place and ensure the process is compliant with the City’s event management system.

Chairperson of the festive season management committee, Nomusa Ntshangase, said that while they are excited that the city remains a preferred tourist destination, the safety of residents and visitors remains a priority.

“The municipality wants to ensure that while people enjoy themselves during the festive season, they do so in a safe manner. We welcome events being hosted in the city as they play a crucial role in driving the economy of the city and enhancing social cohesion,” said Ntshangase.
