Three suspects to appear in court for botched business robbery

The trio was arrested shortly after they tried to rob a shop on The Bluff. They were charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

THREE suspects are due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court this week following a botched business robbery at around 19:30 on The Bluff on October 3.

According to sources at the scene, the three men approached the store with the pretense of being customers. However, the owner of the shop became suspicious and pressed the panic button. The alleged robbery suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Kival Singh from Security Force said their control operator received a panic signal and dispatched a team to a client on School Road in The Bluff.

“Security officers from Security Force, led by Prabakaran Govender, responded swiftly to a callout. On arrival, our members were informed of three suspects who approached the store suspiciously. Once [our] client activated his panic button, the suspect fled.

“While conducting a search in the area, the officers spotted the suspects walking down a street on The Bluff and approached them. One suspect was in possession of a firearm. The suspects were apprehended and handed over to the police, where a case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened,” said Singh.
