House break-in suspect caught in Merebank

The suspect is linked to a spate of house break-ins that have been reported in the Merebank and surrounding areas.

A MAN believed to be involved in multiple house break-ins in Merebank was arrested on September 26. The suspect, who cannot be named until he appears in court, has been evading the police and security companies for several weeks.

PT Alarms – a private security company, received information that led them to the suspect. Dhevan Govindasamy, spokesperson for PT Alarms said in a statement the suspect was tracked by their tactical unit after they received information that he was using the canals on Travencore Drive as a thoroughfare.

“The suspect was apprehended while hiding underneath the canal bridge by the members.

“He admitted that he has been on the run as he has been evading PT Alarms tactical unit, who has been searching for him. The suspect was handed over to Wentworth police station for further processing,” said Govindasamy.
