Two suspects to appear in court

The suspects were arrested in Wentworth during a sting operation conducted in Wentworth flats over the weekend.

TWO suspects will appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (September 23) for various charges. The first suspect was arrested in Croton Road flats in Wentworth on September 21 after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police spokesperson in Wentworth Captain Mbuso Gumede said the Vispol Wentworth Police Unit was patrolling the area when they spotted a group of men outside one of the flats on Croton Road.

“The police approached the men and upon searching them, one suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and 16 live rounds of ammunition. He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly,” said Gumede.
