Police host mini-career exhibition on The Bluff

Brighton Beach Police Station hosted a mini-career exhibition to empower the youth, community and women in policing.

THE Brighton Beach Police Station hosted a mini-career exhibition promoting women in policing in a bid to foster police-community relations at the grassroots level.

The function was held at the Rainbow Kids Educare on The Bluff on September 18. Captain Louise le Roux spearheaded the initiative intending to educate the community and learners about the crucial role that the police play in protecting communities. The career expo also touched on how to care for domestic animals.

“Learners were advised not to engage strange dogs, tease them or throw objects at them. Those who have dogs as pets were advised to ensure their dogs have sufficient shelter, water, food and lots of love.

“Water safety was presented, which included how to cross a river and how to swim in the rivers, ponds, dams, the sea, paddling pools and at home,” said le Roux.

The career expo also highlighted the importance of adult supervision when children are swimming.

Learners in attendance who were selected for the feedback session were rewarded with police keyrings.

“Through the hosting of this mini-career exhibition, the strategic objectives of the police were attained. Learners were empowered to understand the importance of the police within their communities while fostering a [desire for a] possible career path in policing as a young child,” Le Roux added.
